It wouldn’t come as a surprise if I say that it is of great importance for individuals that they try to develop themselves spiritually and psychologically. To me, it seems all the more necessary when one is setting out to develop a career.

I clicked the above during sunrise at BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla Goa Campus.

The price of not working on oneself spiritually and psychologically

Without having a strong and stable spiritual being it is a great torment to be continuously surrounded by ugly feelings like jealousy, hatred, uncontrollable lust, extreme anxiety, a hollow heart, and so on. A person who lacks good spiritual health ends up becoming a means of causing pain not only to himself but to others as well. He gets used to being so to an extent that the internal moral compass is unable to guide such a person towards what is good and noble.

Professionally this makes way for an extremely toxic person who becomes a locus of manifesting a lot of evil wherever he is. Often trying to cover up insecurities with arrogance or an unhealthy desire for attention. Hurting other people becomes natural to such a person. No one with proper sense would want to work with such an individual.

The reward of exerting oneself spiritually and psychologically

While a person who exerts himself in trying to improve spiritually and psychologically ends up being an extremely positive and compassionate person. Such a person attracts others because of the love and goodness he carries within himself. There is wisdom in his words and actions. There is beauty and rhythm in what such a person does. There is genuine happiness and a glow emanating from his face. People feel comfortable trusting him with their personal problems. He becomes a means of goodness wherever he goes. His character becomes worthy of imitation and his advice are deeply beneficial.

When in a leading position such a person is a good guide who tries to bring out the best in others. He doesn’t get tyrannical or manipulative to make you follow and obey him. Rather he wins your heart by genuinely being good and having great knowledge backed by deep thought and wisdom. When he guides you know that he has intended the best for you. You can trust him and expect only good from him. You naturally feel drawn towards him and would hate to hurt him for all the kindness that he shows to you. There is humbleness in him and a high amount of self-awareness. He knows he’s not perfect and can never be. But you find him passionately trying to improve himself in a direction that is good and honourable.

A good professional has to be a good human.

But to become a good human one has to overcome the evil and negative traits that are present within oneself. For that one has to exert himself spiritually and psychologically. It is perhaps extremely hard to do so. But when one looks at people who did that at some point in their life one is always awed by the kindness, honour and goodness that emanates from them.

They not only spend a good day but also have a peaceful sleep at night. They not only live a good and noble life but hopefully will have a better and more glorious death and what comes after...
